  • Distance: 14 km
  • Duration: 6-7 hours

Your adventure begins at Kareri village, a charming hamlet surrounded by dense forests and terraced fields. The trek starts with a gradual ascent through thick pine and oak forests, where the sound of chirping birds and rustling leaves accompanies you. The trail is well-defined and meanders along the banks of the Nyund stream, which adds a soothing ambiance to your hike.

As you ascend, the forest opens up to reveal breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. You'll cross several wooden bridges over gushing streams, adding a sense of adventure to the trek. After several hours of steady climbing, you'll reach the open meadows leading to Kareri Lake. The lake, fed by melting snow from the Dhauladhar range, is a sight to behold with its crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding peaks.

Set up camp near the lake and spend the evening exploring the area. The tranquility of Kareri Lake, combined with the majestic backdrop of the mountains, creates a perfect setting for relaxation and reflection. Enjoy a hot meal under the stars before settling into your tent for the night.

  • Altitude: 4,342 meters (14,245 feet)
  • Distance: 12 km (Round trip)
  • Duration: 7-8 hours

The second day is the most challenging and rewarding part of the trek. Start early, as the climb to Minkiani Pass requires both time and effort. The trail becomes steeper and more rugged as you ascend, with sections covered in loose rocks and occasional patches of snow. The air becomes thinner, making the climb more demanding, but the surrounding beauty keeps you motivated.

As you approach the pass, you'll be greeted by panoramic views of the Dhauladhar range, with its towering peaks and deep valleys stretching as far as the eye can see. The sense of accomplishment as you stand at 4,342 meters is unparalleled. Take time to soak in the views and capture the moment with photographs.

After spending some time at the pass, begin the descent back to Kareri Lake. The return journey is quicker, but care must be taken on the rocky sections. Upon reaching the lake, unwind and share stories of the day's adventure around a warm campfire.

Overnight Stay: Camp at Kareri Lake.

On the final day, enjoy a leisurely breakfast by the lake before packing up and starting your descent. The trail back to Kareri village is familiar but offers a different perspective as you descend. The downhill walk is gentler on the legs, allowing you to fully appreciate the scenic beauty of the route.

As you approach Kareri village, take time to absorb the last views of the mountains and forests. The trek concludes upon arrival in the village, where you can celebrate the successful completion of your journey with your fellow trekkers and guides.
