Moon Peak Trek Overview
The Moon Peak Expedition is an exhilarating 6-day journey that takes adventurers to the summit of Moon Peak, standing tall at an altitude of 4,610 meters in the Dhauladhar Range of the Himalayas. Starting from the vibrant town of McLeod Ganj, this expedition offers a challenging and rewarding experience for seasoned trekkers and mountaineers.
The expedition begins with a trek through lush forests of oak and rhododendron, gradually ascending to the picturesque Triund ridge, which offers panoramic views of the Kangra Valley and the surrounding mountains. As you move higher, the landscape becomes more rugged and rocky, with the trail passing through Laka Glacier and the steep ascent to Lahesh Cave, a natural shelter used by shepherds.
The highlight of the expedition is the final push to the summit of Moon Peak, which involves navigating through snow-covered slopes and steep ridges. Reaching the summit is a truly rewarding experience, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of the Dhauladhar range, the distant Pir Panjal range, and the vast plains of Punjab. The descent follows the same route, allowing trekkers to soak in the stunning landscapes once more before returning to McLeod Ganj.
