The Prashar Lake Trek is beautiful and relatively easy in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. This 2-day trek is perfect for beginners and those looking for a short yet rewarding adventure. The trek takes you through dense forests, charming villages, and open meadows, culminating at the pristine Prashar Lake, situated at 2,730 meters. The lake is known for its deep blue waters and the floating island that changes position throughout the year. Overlooking the lake is the ancient Prashar Rishi temple, a 13th-century pagoda-style structure with intricate wood carvings. The trek offers stunning 180-degree views of the Dhauladhar, Pir Panjal, and Kinnaur mountain ranges, making it a photographer’s paradise.

The trek begins from the small village of Baggi, which is a short drive from Mandi. From Baggi, the trail ascends gradually through dense forests of pine, oak, and rhododendron. As you climb higher, the forest opens up into beautiful meadows offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The final stretch of the trek leads you to the stunning Prashar Lake, with the temple of Prashar Rishi standing proudly beside it. Spend the evening exploring the area and soaking in the views. Overnight stay in tents near the lake.
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the mountains, a breathtaking sight that makes the trek truly memorable. After breakfast, you’ll start your descent back to Baggi via the same route. The descent is easier and quicker, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of the trail at a more leisurely pace. Upon reaching Baggi, you’ll drive back to Mandi, concluding your short but wonderful trek to Prashar Lake.
