The descent into the Chamba Valley brings a dramatic change in landscape, from the rocky and snow-covered terrain of the pass to the lush green meadows and dense forests of the valley. Tour Plan

Day 1 McLeodganj to Triund
  • Distance: 9 km
  • Altitude: 2,850 meters
  • Duration: 4-6 hours

The trek starts from McLeodganj, where the trail winds through dense forests of deodar, oak, and rhododendron. The gradual ascent provides beautiful views of the Kangra Valley and the Dhauladhar range. After a few hours of trekking, you’ll reach the Triund campsite, known for its spectacular sunset views. Spend the night camping under the stars, surrounded by the serene beauty of the mountains.

Day 2 Triund to Laka Glacier Trek
  • Distance: 6 km
  • Altitude: 3,200 meters
  • Duration: 4-5 hours

After a hearty breakfast, continue your trek towards Laka Glacier. The trail becomes more challenging as you approach the snowline, with rocky paths and steep sections. Upon reaching Laka Glacier, you’ll be surrounded by the rugged beauty of the high mountains and the vast expanse of snow and ice. Set up camp near the glacier and enjoy the tranquility of this remote location.

Day 3 Laka Glacier to Lahesh Cave - Indrahar Pass and Descend to Chatta Parao
  • Distance: 14 km
  • Altitude: 4,342 meters (Indrahar Pass), 3,700 meters (Chata)
  • Duration: 7-8 hours

This day marks the most challenging part of the trek. Start early from Laka Glacier and ascend towards Lahesh Cave, a natural rock shelter used by shepherds. From here, the trail becomes steeper and rockier as you approach Indrahar Pass. The climb to the pass is demanding, but the panoramic views from the top are truly rewarding, with vistas of the Pir Panjal range, Mani Mahesh Kailash, and the Chamba Valley below.

After taking in the stunning views, begin your descent into the Chamba Valley. The descent is steep and requires careful navigation, especially in the early part. The trail eventually leads to the campsite at Chatta Parao, a beautiful alpine meadow where you’ll spend the night.

Day 4 Chatta Parao to Kuarsi Village Trek
  • Distance: 12 km
  • Altitude: 2,730 meters
  • Duration: 5-6 hours

After breakfast, continue your descent towards Kuarsi Village. The trail takes you through lush forests and open meadows, offering a mix of beautiful landscapes. As you descend further into the Chamba Valley, you’ll notice a change in the scenery, with terraced fields and traditional Himachali houses dotting the landscape.
Kuarsi Village is a quaint, remote hamlet that offers a glimpse into the local way of life. Spend the night here, experiencing the warm hospitality of the villagers and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. This is a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and learn about the traditions of the Chamba region.

Day 5 Kuarsi Village to Chamba
  • Distance: 14 km
  • Altitude: 1,006 meters
  • Duration: 5-6 hours

On the final day, trek through the lush Chamba Valley, following a well-trodden path that winds through terraced fields and forests. The descent is gradual, and as you get closer to Chamba, the landscape becomes more populated, with small villages and farms dotting the valley. Upon reaching Chamba, you can explore the town’s rich history and architecture, including its famous temples and ancient structures. The trek concludes here, leaving you with lasting memories of your adventure through the Dhauladhar range and Chamba Valley.

30 days before the trek date: 90% refund of the total trek fee.

15-30 days before the trek date: 50% refund of the total trek fee.

7-15 days before the trek date: 25% refund of the total trek fee.

Less than 7 days before the trek date: No refund.

In case of natural disasters or unforeseen circumstances: Mahadev Adventure reserves the right to cancel the trek. In such cases, we will provide an alternative trek or offer a full refund.
