Starting from the vibrant town of McLeod Ganj or the quieter Dharamkot, the trail meanders through lush forests of oak, deodar, and rhododendron. As you ascend, you are treated to breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks and the lush Kangra Valley below. The journey to Triund is filled with picturesque landscapes, offering trekkers a chance to immerse themselves in the serene environment and spot a variety of flora and fauna along the way.
The trek’s highlight is reaching the Triund ridge, which provides panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The ridge itself is a beautiful grassy meadow that offers an ideal spot for camping. Here, you can enjoy the stunning sunset and later, the star-filled sky, making for an unforgettable overnight camping experience. The tranquility and beauty of Triund make it a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The descent back to McLeod Ganj or Dharamkot is equally enjoyable, allowing trekkers to relive the beauty of the trail from a different perspective. The trek is well-suited for a quick escape into the mountains, offering a fulfilling experience with moderate physical effort. Whether you are looking to embark on your first trekking adventure or seeking a short and scenic trek, the Triund Trek provides an accessible and rewarding Himalayan experience.
Begin your trek from McLeod Ganj or Dharamkot, making your way through dense forests of oak, deodar, and rhododendron. The initial part of the trail is a gradual ascent, allowing you to acclimatize and enjoy the surrounding flora and fauna. The path becomes steeper as you progress, but the breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar range and the valley below make the effort worthwhile.
About halfway through the trek, you’ll reach the charming Gallu Devi Temple, where you can take a break and enjoy some refreshments. Continue your ascent, with the final stretch being a bit more challenging but rewarding as you approach the Triund ridge.
Upon reaching Triund, set up camp and relax, taking in the panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks and the valley below. Enjoy a hot dinner under the stars, sharing stories and experiences with fellow trekkers, and then settle in for an overnight stay in tents.
The descent is generally easier, allowing you to enjoy the trail’s natural beauty leisurely. Take breaks to rest and savor the peaceful surroundings. Upon reaching your starting point, the trek concludes, leaving you with unforgettable memories of the stunning landscapes and serene environment.
